First week of school

During our first two classes on Wed. 8/31 and Thu. 9/1, our class got acquainted and began to discuss what calculus is. In particular, we examined the notions of average rate of change and instantaneous rate of change, and how these concepts are related using limits.

There will not be any mathematical homework until after Labor Day Weekend. However, there are the following tasks to complete this week:

• Get the usual school supplies needed for any math class.
• Send me an e-mail introducing yourself. (See class handout for details.)
• Be ready to receive e-mail that's sent to your FirstClass account. (See class handout for two ways to do this.)
• Read the Course Guide.
